From the Pastor
With a new year comes new excitement. I am excited at what God has in store for me and this church in 2019! We are already witnessing blessings and even an "air of anticipation." I started teaching Discipleship Classes on Wednesday morning and evening. So far, thirty-nine have dedicated themselves to not only starting but agreeing to finish the thirteen weeks. If you have not yet begun this walk, it's not too late. In addition, eighteen attended the Senior Lunch on January 3. And on January 27 we will have a guest speaker here at GBC, followed by a "Soup Lunch" in the Fellowship Hall. I sense a fresh excitement, a fresh spirit here at GBC.
But with a new year, we are also facing an unknown. No one knows what tomorrow may bring. Some may have to endure the loss of a loved one, some may develop a horrible disease or medical condition, or face a job loss, or any number of "life surprises." All of these types of "unknowns" can be hard to endure. This is why it is most imperative that we enter this new year with these four things in mind: that we have a new relationship with God; that we have a new sense of time's importance; that we have a new appraisal of life's values; and that we use a "new" power (the power of the Holy Spirit).
Again, Happy New Year to all of you! Let us all make 2019 the greatest year of GBC has ever experienced!
